Elsewhere, the patch introduced a new Ranked mode for solo players, meaning you can now climb the rankings on your own. It’s a good time to start, too, since this marks the beginning of Season 9 and ranks have been reset along with leaderboards. Here are the new rules for Ranked Mode Seaso
Fall damage makes logical sense. After all, it’s possible to suffer an intense sprain or broken bone from something as simple as tripping on the sidewalk. Gravity can be one of reality’s greatest villains. So when a game is aiming to be as realistic and authentic as possible, having severe, painful consequences for a high fall is a perfectly reasonable design cho
One of the best things to come from battle royales is the popularization of crossplay and cross-progression . Essentially, this means is that if someone wants to play with their friend on another platform, they can — and if that player chooses to switch between consoles they will not lose anything they have earned or purchased. While one of the companies, in particular Sony, was not open to the idea at the beginning of the Xbox One and PS4 generation, the success of Fornite forever changed the way players can interact between platfo
Revenant is a solid mid-range character, and mid-range weapons should be used. The fact is that the Stalker ability is useless unless actually close to enemies, the Death Totem needs to be used within a fairly reasonable range so you actually have the time to ambush enemies while in Death Protection, and his Silence ability can be flung far, but the best distance to use it is close-to-mid-range. As such, Revenant’s choice in weapons should reflect t
The SMG weapons, such as the R99 and Prowler , are absolutely a safe bet, and so are the general assault rifles, such as R-301 and Flatline . All of these offer excellent damage at their respective ranges. A shotgun, like the Mastiff , is also a good choice. You can activate Death Protection and just charge into an enemy stronghold, ready to fling grenades and blast your shotgun. Once the enemies whittle down your health, you’ll find yourself back at the totem ready to heal
Plus, the character designs across the board are very good. There’s no titty armor or weeaboo nonsense – every character’s outfit and physical appearance fits their role, has good glance value, follows the classic silhouette test rule , and has a cohesiveness to it that fits in the context of the universe. It’s a game that draws you into its world based on the way the characters look, instead of yanking you out of it. That’s a hard thing to accomplish, especially when it comes to a PVP free-to-play game. It takes a lot of extra effort to not just try and appeal to the lowest common denominator like certain other games that are MOBAs made by Riot Games or shooters made by Hi-Res. A
While the success of the game mode can be measured by how many players are consistently active or by how much yearly revenue each title makes, the best way to represent how important the genre really is would be to gauge the impact it has had on the gaming industry as a wh
Bloodhound has quickly ascended to the rank of S-Tier simply due to Respawn Entertainment giving the hunter a collection of buffs. Their ultimate, called Beast of the Hunt, now can be extended if played correctly by the player. Say you’re in the ultimate and get a down or kill near the end of the timer, well the ultimate will then be extended by another 15 seconds. That alone is extremely powerful and doesn’t take into account the fact that the ability called Eye of the Allfather’s cooldown reduces to 6 seconds when Bloodhound’s ultimate is act
I digress. First, let’s talk about the female characters – practically all of them look the goddamn same. Outliers like Mei and Zarya notwithstanding, almost every single female character, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or occupation, are identical in both facial characteristics and body type. A gruff military woman hailing from Egypt has the same ass and bust and weight of an introverted teenage hacker from Mexico, a socially awkward Indian mathematician, a dumb white cowgirl, a Swedish welder, a German doctor, a professional gamer from Korea, a French sniper, a white whatever-the-fuck Tracer is, et cet
Apex, on the other hand, doesn’t really have the same problem. Look at the female characters alone – Wraith, Bangalore, and Lifeline. Only one of them is wearing a body suit, and considering her character (stealthy interdimensional assassin-y lady,) it fits. The other two women wear clothing that makes sense for both their respective roles on the battlefield and their lore, with Bangalore’s fatigues making sense considering her military upbringing and Lifeline’s breathable top and cargo pants fitting with her role as a combat medic, as well as being more casual than something somebody from her wealthy upbringing might wear. On top of their outfits, each woman looks different. Different body types and heights and hazard Transformation faces help to give them differentiating factors beyond outfit colors and hairstyles. While I’d like more diversity in terms of female body types and eventually other ethnicities, it’s a pretty bang-up st
